Writing Prompt #5

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone!

NaNoWriMo 2017 is officially upon us! While I've been aware of the challenge for two years, I've never participated in it. That changes today! My primary focus is on cleaning up my first YA speculative sci-fi, CODE WALKER.

During my undergraduate at Emory University, I worked at Emory University Hospital in the pharmacy (inpatient, OR). As an employee, we were required to carry around code cards with our IDs so that we would always know what any all calls were about. I remember working in the STAT hood during one night shift (9:30PM - 7:30AM), reading over the codes (things got pretty slow around 2:00AM) and coming upon CODE WALKER. My mind instantly formed a picture - albeit a very different one than what I envision as I'm writing - of a patient walking out of a hospital. I wondered what their story would be...and now I'm writing it.

My second project doesn't really have a title, but I call it DETERMINED in my head. This story was inspired by an article I read in The Stone Reader: Modern Philosophy in 133 Arguments.

Anyway, enough of that. Is anybody out there yet? If so, are you writing anything for NaNoWriMo?

Either way, if you need a warm-up to get the words flowing, here's a writing prompt! Happy Wednesday, happier writing!

Also, check out this post for tricks to help you get the draft done without your inner editor prolonging the process!
